Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina

A New Beginning for the Battle Against Lung Cancer

As the state’s leading non-profit organization supporting lung cancer research and education, Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina specializes in connecting patients, survivors and loved ones with the medical and research community.  Formerly the North Carolina Lung Cancer Partnership, our newly re-branded organization’s mission is to decrease deaths and provide support to those affected by lung cancer through research, awareness, education and access programs across North Carolina.

Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina

The Lung Cancer Initiative’s Mission is:

to decrease deaths and provide support to those affected by lung cancer through research, awareness, education and access programs across North Carolina.

To accomplish this mission, the LCINC is:

  • Funding research to increase our understanding of how lung cancer starts and progresses, and how better to detect and treat it
  • Providing education to physicians, allied health professionals, and patients and their families
  • Hosting events dedicated to raising awareness
  • Advocating for increases in lung cancer research funding by using all possible pathways

Your support is essential. For every dollar the Initiative raises, 79 cents supports these important initiatives.

Since 2006 the Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina has funded more than $500,000 in lung cancer research through the National Lung Cancer Partnership’s Young Investigator Research Grant Competition. Our support has jump-started the careers of researchers who have gone on to receive continued funding for their work from the National Institute of Health, Department of Defense, and the American Cancer Society.
